Taiwo Awoniyi has addressed the mounting speculation that he may leave Nottingham Forest during this January transfer window.

Awoniyi has been linked with a move away from Forest in the last few weeks, with West Ham United making a move for the striker.

The Super Eagles star has seen his place in the team threatened by the form of Chris Woods, who has been exceptional this season.

Awoniyi addresses transfer rumours

Awoniyi has responded to the rumours in an exclusive interview with Sportsboom, reiterating his dedication to Forest despite his difficulties.

The striker said, “Transfers are part of football, and there will always be speculation. But my focus is entirely on Nottingham Forest.

“This is a team with a lot of potential, and I want to be here to help achieve something special. 

“I’m not thinking about leaving; I’m thinking about how I can contribute more to the success of this club.”

“I’ve spoken with the coaches, and they’ve been very supportive. They see me as an important part of the squad, even if I’m not starting regularly. 

“They’ve emphasised the importance of staying ready and being a team player. It’s reassuring to know that they value what I bring to the table, and it pushes me to keep giving my best.”

This season, the Nigerian international has made 19 appearances in all competitions and only scored once.

Concerns regarding his future have been aroused by this lacklustre performance, with multiple reports speculating about a possible transfer to West Ham.
