Japan Waseda University 2025 Undergraduates Scholarship

Waseda University is now accepting applications for its 2025 Spring Scholarship Registration. This exceptional opportunity allows international and domestic students to benefit from over 250 scholarship types, including the university’s renowned on-campus scholarships.

These scholarships are grant-type, meaning no repayment is required, and aim to provide financial assistance to eligible students while promoting academic excellence.

Benefits of the Scholarship

Non-Repayable Grants: Waseda University’s on-campus scholarships, such as the Okuma Memorial Scholarship and Ono Azusa Memorial Scholarship, offer financial aid that does not require repayment.

• Average Annual Payment: Approximately 400,000 yen.
• Wide Accessibility: Covers a total of 150 types of grant-based scholarships.

Broad Reach:

• In 2023, 27.3% of eligible students received some form of scholarship, with 52.7% receiving grant-type scholarships.
• Total disbursed amount in 2023: Approximately 3.7 billion yen.

Additional Support for Large Families: Starting in 2025, tuition fees will be waived for undergraduate students from large families, as per the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for Waseda University Scholarships  vary based on the specific scholarship system. Common requirements include:

• On-Campus Scholarships: Based on academic performance (e.g., Okuma Memorial Scholarship) or financial need (e.g., Ono Azusa Memorial Scholarship).
• International Students: Almost all scholarships for international students are grant-type, ensuring significant financial relief.
• Graduate Students: Must register as new graduate students if transitioning from Waseda undergraduate programs in April 2025.

Application Process

Spring Scholarship Registration Period: February 1, 2025 (Saturday) – March 14, 2025 (Friday).

• February 1 – March 14, 2025: Complete the online registration via the MyWaseda application form and submit the required documents by mail.
• April 2025:
  • Applicants for JASSO scholarships must submit additional documents and register on the Scalanet website.
• May 2025: Participate in selection processes such as interviews (if applicable).
• July 2025: Recruitment announcements and completion of formalities.
