Former Chelsea defender, Jason Cundy has urged his old club to sign former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to solve their ‘massive problem’ in the goalkeeper department.
Chelsea are still looking for a long-term No. 1 despite having different goalkeepers on the books.
Robert Sanchez started the season as Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s first-choice goalkeeper.
But the Spaniard was dropped after making more mistakes that led to goals than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.
Maresca then handed Filip Jorgensen a chance after Sanchez was axed but he too has struggled between the sticks.
Jorgensen committed a shocking error in Chelsea’s defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.
“The goalkeeper has turned out to be a massive problem for Chelsea,” Cundy said on talkSPORT.
“Jorgensen dropped an absolute dolly against Aston Villa. We did enough to get a point there and the keeper made a howler, it was devastating for Chelsea.
“I would definitely have Ramsdale. That is an improvement. Kelleher at Liverpool is another one they are looking at.
“Clearly the goalkeeper situation has been a bit of a disaster. Sanchez got the gloves and over the last three months it is been quite obvious that he is suffering. There is been a lot of goals and mistakes.”
Ramsdale, who currently plays for Southampton, made almost 100 appearances for Arsenal during his time at Emirates Stadium.
