Southampton manager Ivan Juric has commended Joe Aribo for his performance in their win against Ipswich Town

On Saturday, the Saints claimed a 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the Premier League.

However, due to injuries in the squad, he was later used as a left centre-back, a move that paid off in their win.

Speaking to Sky Sports, via the BBC, he said, “We had problems with Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Jack Stephens.

“Today I have to say Joe Aribo was exceptional, he played at left centre-back and he played an incredible game.”

Southampton’s defensive woes continued as Harwood-Bellis was substituted off the pitch due to an injury, and Jack Stephens had to leave the pitch ten minutes later.

Aribo was moved into the backline by Juric, who made an unexpected tactical change as a result.

Despite being out of position in midfield, Aribo adjusted admirably and helped Southampton hold off Ipswich’s push in the second half.
