Struggles in the Group Stage

Under the management of young coach Yemi Olanrewaju, who was sacked in a bid to rejuvenate the team, Enyimba failed to win any of their opening three matches in the group stage.

The club’s fortunes did not improve significantly under new coach Stanley Eguma, who had initially sparked renewed hope with a comprehensive win against Black Bulls but ultimately could not reverse their fortunes.

New Enyimba coach Stanley Eguma celebrates the club’s only win in the CAFCC.

Enyimba, under the leadership of Super Eagles legend, Kanu, will now return to Nigeria to reflect on their performance this season as they switch attention to the NPFL where they currently sit seventh.

Following this early exit from continental competition, the Elephants shift their focus to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), which resumes on January 23 with a crucial fixture against former champions Kano Pillars.
