Olympic champion Julien Alfred won her first race of the year in a record-breaking time at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.
Paris Olympics history-making sprint queen Julien Alfred kicked off her 2025 season on a record-breaking note at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston.
The Saint Lucian track star powered to an impressive time of 36.16s – a new national record and the fifteenth fastest time in history, defeating her training partner Dina Asher-Smith, who clocked a Personal Best (PB) of 36.87s.
Alfred rose to athletics fame following her historic performance at the Paris Olympic Games, where she became Saint Lucia’s first Olympic gold medallist ever. She also became the world 60m and Diamond League 100m champion, thus closed off last season as the undisputed sprint queen.

With more expectations and a loaded season ahead, Alfred will be gunning to prove her iconic 2024 year was no fluke and will have her goals set at dethroning Sha’Carri Richardson for the World 100m title, while also defending her Diamond League title.
