Retirees under Kaduna State’s Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) have given Governor Uba Sani a 14-day ultimatum to settle their unpaid entitlements or face mass protests.
During a peaceful demonstration at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Tuesday, the retirees lamented severe hardship, citing hunger, homelessness, and lack of medical care.
The group’s chairman, Professor Nate Danjuma, warned that if their demands are not met within two weeks, they will occupy the Kaduna State Government House.
“Some of our members are dying of hunger, while others are developing mental illnesses due to the lack of medical care. Many have no homes, and families are falling apart,” Danjuma stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, who addressed the demonstrators, commended them for maintaining peace and assured them that the governor would address their grievances.
