Liverpool have expressed interest in signing Wolfsburg’s highly-rated young centre-back Konstantinos Koulierakis, according to reports from Germany.
The 21-year-old Greek international has been making waves in the Bundesliga, with Bild describing him as “one of the most sought-after defensive talents in Europe.” Liverpool reportedly approached Wolfsburg about Koulierakis in November, though they have yet to submit an official bid.
Wolfsburg are keen to hold onto the promising defender, but a bid in the region of €40 million (£33.3m) could convince them to negotiate. While Liverpool are currently leading the chase, they aren’t alone in their pursuit. Premier League clubs, as well as Real Madrid and AC Milan, have also been closely monitoring Koulierakis’ performances.
Scouts from several clubs attended Greece’s UEFA Nations League match against England in November to assess the young defender, despite Greece suffering a 3-0 defeat.
Koulierakis moved to Wolfsburg from Greek side PAOK in August, signing a contract until 2029. Since then, he has made 21 appearances for the German side, who currently sit ninth in the Bundesliga.
Before his move, he played a crucial role in helping PAOK win the Super League Greece title and earned a spot in the league’s Team of the Season in both 2023 and 2024.
Liverpool’s interest in Wolfsburg talent doesn’t end with Koulierakis. Reports also suggest the Reds are keeping tabs on his teammate Mohamed Amoura as they look to bolster their squad for the future.
