Following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s departure to PSG, Napoli have been told by one of Italian football greats to replace him with Ademola Lookman, instead of Manchester United’s electric winger.
Napoli recently bid farewell to Kvaratskhelia, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in a lucrative €75 million deal.
With the Serie A champions now actively searching for a new playmaker, Antonio Cassano believes Lookman is the perfect fit for Antonio Conte’s high-pressure system.

Garnacho not the right fit for Napoli

While 20-year-old Alejandro Garnacho has been linked to Napoli, Cassano is sceptical about the Argentine’s ability to thrive under Conte’s demanding management style.
Garnacho has struggled for consistency at Manchester United this season amidst the managerial change and drop in form.
According to Tutto Napoli, Cassano weighed in on this issue on the Viva el Futbol podcast.
“Garnacho is young and strong, but he’s not always a starter at United, who are in difficulty. And then he has to go to a complicated club where there’s a lot of pressure, where the coach grinds your balls,” he explained.
Cassano’s concerns centre around Garnacho’s relative inexperience and his lack of regular game time in a challenging Premier League environment.
Lookman is the ideal package

In contrast, Cassano sees Nigerian international Lookman as the ideal candidate for Napoli.
The Atalanta winger, who joined from RB Leipzig in 2022, has been one of Serie A’s standout performers, contributing 34 goals and 21 assists in 80 league appearances.
This season, Lookman has already delivered 13 goals and six assists in 25 matches across all competitions. His versatility, work ethic, and goal-scoring ability make him a valuable asset for any team.
“I take €75 million for Kvara? I go to Atalanta, I give them €45-50 million plus Raspadori, and I take Lookman now because he scores goals, assists, and works for the team,” Cassano added.
Cassano also highlighted Lookman’s suitability for Napoli’s playing style, suggesting a potential swap deal involving Giacomo Raspadori to lower the transfer fee.
“If I have to choose between him and Garnacho, I’ll take Lookman for life. He’s 28 years old, and he was going to PSG in the summer. But PSG has now taken Kvaratskhelia. For me, with Raspadori at Atalanta, everyone is happy—they make another capital gain,” Cassano concluded.
Napoli will now weigh their options as they look to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season and maintain their dominance in Serie A.
