Manchester United are reportedly preparing a major offer to sign Victor Osimhen, proposing €40m plus Rasmus Hojlund in a potential swap deal. The Nigerian striker has been on United’s radar for some time, but Napoli are holding firm on his €75m release clause.
According to reports from Calciomercato.com via Football Italia, United are reluctant to meet Osimhen’s full valuation. Instead, they are considering a player-plus-cash deal to lower the financial burden. Napoli, however, are expected to demand the full release clause before sanctioning any move.
Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray, where he has been in sensational form. The 26-year-old has netted 14 goals and provided four assists in 19 Turkish Super Lig appearances. In the UEFA Europa League, he has also impressed with six goals and one assist in seven matches.
Meanwhile, Hojlund has endured a tough 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford. The Danish forward has managed just seven goals and one assist in 32 appearances. With United looking to bolster their attack, they may see Osimhen as a more proven option.
United were linked with a move for Osimhen in January, but he refused to leave Galatasaray mid-season. With the summer transfer window approaching, discussions are likely to intensify. Napoli will have the final say, but if United push forward with their offer, a deal could be on the horizon.
