The Ex-Red Devils midfielder gave a list of players that he would sell or keep

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has weighed in on the club’s transfer decisions, offering bold opinions during a game of “keep or sell.”

While endorsing Andre Onana’s potential, Scholes controversially suggested the club should part ways with established stars Marcus Rashford and Casemiro.

Scholes backs Onana and Garnacho but turns down Rashford

Scholes expressed his faith in Onana, despite the goalkeeper’s rocky start to life at Old Trafford, saying, “I still think there’s more to come from him [Onana]. For now, I’ll keep.”

However, Scholes did not extend the same support to Marcus Rashford, who has recently fallen out of favour with manager Ruben Amorim.

Rashford’s declaration that he was ready for a “new challenge” reportedly angered Amorim, and the academy graduate has since been linked with loan moves to Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona.

Scholes included Rashford in the sell column, hinting that his time at the club may be coming to an end. The former England international showed more empathy toward young talent Alejandro Garnacho, choosing to keep the Argentine winger, who has been inconsistent this season.

Casemiro and Antony also on the chopping block

Scholes also advocated for selling veteran midfielder Casemiro. Despite the Brazilian’s pivotal role in United’s midfield last season, Scholes prioritised keeping emerging talent Kobbie Mainoo instead.

Antony, who has already moved to Real Betis on loan this January, was also placed in the sell category, as the winger’s long-term future at United is now in doubt, with a permanent transfer to Betis possibly on the horizon.

Scholes was critical of the defensive lineup as well, recommending the club offload Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt while expressing a fondness for Luke Shaw and Mason Mount, though he ultimately suggested selling them too.
