Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes took a major hit after a 1-0 home defeat to West Ham, leaving them eight points behind leaders Liverpool.

“You’re at home against West Ham and you still have a strong team despite injuries. You’d expect them to find a way, but the West Ham goalkeeper was barely tested. They could have played all day and not scored.

“Arsenal now need other teams to do them a favor. Liverpool deserve to be top, and while 29 points from 26 isn’t guaranteed, Arsenal would have to be perfect from here—and they’re struggling to score.”

Arsenal legend Ian Wright echoed Owen’s concerns, admitting he felt disheartened by his former club’s lack of creativity and attacking options. The Gunners chose not to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window, a decision that now appears costly.

“It was always going to be tough with the forwards missing,” Wright said. “We didn’t create enough or pose a real threat. West Ham defended brilliantly, and I couldn’t see where a goal would come from. We ran out of ideas, and it’s frustrating to watch.”

Arsenal’s next opportunity to keep pressure on Liverpool comes on Wednesday night when they visit a Nottingham Forest side with Champions League ambitions. With their title hopes fading fast, Mikel Arteta’s team faces a must-win scenario in every remaining game.
