Jose Mourinho’s side are odds on to qualify for the next round after a comfortable win over Anderlecht
Turkish giants Fenerbahce steamrolled Anderlecht and made their passage into the Europa League Round of 16 with a comfortable 3-0 first leg victory.
The big win puts Jose Mourinho and his side firmly in control of the tie, with a comeback for Anderlecht nearly impossible at the moment.
Fenerbahce win big in Europa League
The Yellow Canaries came out firing from the first whistle and took the lead after only 11 minutes through captain Dusan Tadic.
Although Anderlecht tried to fight back, their uprising was squashed by Edin Dzeko, who doubled Fenerbahce’s lead just before the half-time break.
Two soon became three after the resumption of the second half when Moroccan forward Youssef En-Nesyri essentially handed Fenerbahce a place in the next round with a goal to make it 3-0 to the home side.
With a second-leg tie in Belgium to come next week, even the most optimistic Anderlecht fans would struggle to see a way back after the first-leg hammering they endured.
