Nigeria Rugby has appointed 15 coaches to help develop young girls.
The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has taken a big step toward promoting girls’ participation in rugby by appointing 15 coaches to spearhead the Rugby Rising Play Nigeria initiative.
Rugby Rising Play is World Rugby’s first bespoke girls’ participation program, designed to introduce teenage girls to rugby in a fun and progressive manner.
The selected coaches, drawn from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, will work under the supervision of Wuraola Hussain, a Rugby Africa-certified educator.
The coaches, who have completed the T1 Rugby Course, will drive the development of rugby from the grassroots, fostering inclusivity and encouraging young girls to take up the sport.

Nigeria Stallions battled hard but could not build on their impressive performance during day 1 of the Africa Men’s Sevens.
Their appointments were based on their completion of the World Rugby course, which emphasizes fun, fitness, inclusion, and time optimisation.
“We are excited to have these coaches on board to promote girls’ rugby in Nigeria,” said NRFF President, Kelechi Mbagwu.
“Our goal is to create pathways for young girls to get involved in rugby and develop their skills, and we believe these coaches will play a crucial role in achieving this objective.”
The appointed coaches are:

2. Lawrenta Ukponwan-Edo State
3. Azeez Raafiu Abimbola-Rivers State
4. Opene Awuli -Delta State
5. Olanrewaju Teslim Pereira- Abuja FCT
6. Torkwase Adugu -Benue State
7. Innocent Adaeze Precious -Lagos State
8. Paul Adagbo -Plateau State
9. Umar Bau -Kano State
10. Kehinde Adelaja -Ogun State
11. Mohammed Ibrahim -Kwara State
12. Shehu Garba -Bauchi State
13. Moses Dominic Archibong- Akwa Ibom State
14. Vincent Paul -Anambra State
15. Sadam Abubakar -Kaduna State
