After Chelsea’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City, John Obi-Mikel blasted Nicolas Jackson and Robert Sanchez, saying they are just not good enough to return the team to where they belong.

After just three minutes, City rookie Abdukodir Khusanov made a mistake to give the visitors an early lead through Noni Madueke.

However, Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland scored goals on each side of halftime to put the champions in control.

Phil Foden broke through and beat Sanchez with a calm finish in the 87th minute to widen the margin and seal the win.

After a dismal sequence of matches, Chelsea is currently in sixth place in the table, 13 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Criticism of Nicolas Jackson after Chelsea’s loss

Nicolas Jackson’s perceived wastefulness in front of goal has once again drawn criticism.

Jackson had a fantastic chance to extend Chelsea’s advantage after setting up Madueke for the first goal, but the Senegalese chose to draw the ball back for Jadon Sancho, whose attempt was blocked.

After the loss to Manchester City, Chelsea fans took to social media to give their thoughts.

Rather than applaud the tactical genius of Pep Guardiola leading his team to victory from a goal down, they descended on one of their players.

Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson rose to the top of the trends for his performance.

Chelsea fans let their thoughts known about Jackson and it involved former club midfielder Mikel Obi.

Obi has been critical of Jackson since the start of the season but met with mixed reactions.

Mikel Obi reacts to Nicolas Jackson and Robert Sanchez

Mikel took to his official Obi One Podcast to give his thoughts on Jackson and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

He said, “Not the scoreline we all wanted, is it? I’m a bit gutted.

‘Again, we went 1-0 up and we had that chance to go 2-0 up with Nicolas Jackson.

‘Some people are saying that the pass from Cole Palmer is a little bit… no, it’s not. You’re a striker, just put your foot through it.

‘If you miss it, it’s fine. But attempt to score. What did he do? Just controlled the ball and then came back.

‘Your job is to f***ing score the goals, that’s why you were brought to the football club. Put the ball in the back of the net and try to score. He didn’t do that.

‘I have nothing against Nicolas Jackson and every time I talk about him, it’s like I have something against him, it’s like I’m trying to get Victor [Osimhen] to come to the football club. No it’s not, I’ve said it.”

“The reason why we succeeded in my time and, again, I’m not trying to compare him with Didier [Drogba], because we had somebody that when we called upon him he was there to put the ball in the back of the net. We don’t have that right now.

“Nicolas Jackson, he’s doing well with his combinations. But he’s not a goalscorer and that’s what we need.”

On Sanchez he added, ‘Not good enough. He’s not a top, top ‘keeper.

“He’s good enough to be there in the league but he’s not good enough for Chelsea.

“Sanchez showed that again with that mistake. What are you doing rushing out? What are you doing?!

“If you called Petr Cech now off the cuff, privately, he would say the same thing but I’m the only person who is coming out to say it.”

Chelsea return to action when they play West Ham at home at Stamford Bridge.
