What Slot said about Alexander-Arnold

Slot is unsure of the extent of the injury but admitted that it is never a good sign when a player asks to be substituted. 

He expects Alexander-Arnold to miss the Tottenham game and hopes to have him back as soon as possible.

“The situation was that Trent said to me ‘you have to take me off’ and he sat on the floor,” Slot said.

“He felt something. I can’t tell you exactly what or how bad it is because it’s only an hour after the game.

“But it’s never a good sign when a player is asking for a substitution. I would be surprised if he plays on Thursday. Let’s hope he’s back with us as soon as possible.”

Alexander-Arnold’s injury is a concern for Liverpool as they chase trophies on multiple fronts. 

They are currently top of the Premier League and are also competing in the Champions League and FA Cup. The right-back’s future at the club is also uncertain, with Real Madrid reportedly interested in signing him.

Liverpool’s next Premier League game is the Merseyside derby against Everton on February 12. 

The Reds play Tottenham and Plymouth in the EFL Cup and FA Cup before travelling to the Toffees for the rescheduled league match.
