The two former Manchester United stars could link up in Marseille this summer

Paul Pogba is reportedly open to taking a significant wage cut to join Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille this summer.

The French midfielder, currently a free agent, has been in talks with Marseille, with reports suggesting that head coach Roberto De Zerbi has already approved the move.

Pogba open to Marseille move after recent talks

Pogba, who recently had his four-year doping ban reduced to 18 months, will be eligible to play again in March and is eager to revive his career.

With Marseille already securing Mason Greenwood from Manchester United last season, Pogba could reunite with his former Red Devils teammate at the Velodrome.

According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Marseille made contact with Pogba during the winter transfer window, but a deal was not finalised.

However, the 2018 World Cup winner is still keen on joining the French club and is prepared to accept lower wages to make the move happen.

Pogba’s last contract with Juventus was a lucrative one, but following his suspension, clubs will be hesitant to match his previous salary.

Greenwood-Pogba reunion on the cards?

The 30-year-old midfielder understands the financial limitations and is willing to negotiate a lower deal to return to top-flight football.

Marseille’s director of football, Mehdi Benatia, previously admitted in an interview with L’Equipe that the club had considered signing Pogba in January, with head coach Roberto De Zerbi also approving the potential transfer.

A switch to Marseille would see Pogba reunite with Greenwood, who joined the Ligue 1 club from Manchester United for €26 million last summer.

The English forward has been enjoying a solid season in France, scoring 14 goals in 22 matches, and his presence at the club could help convince Pogba to make the move.
