The Borno State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers and recovered a locally made pistol following a foiled abduction attempt in Sabon Gari Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State.

The arrest was confirmed in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Friday.

According to intelligence sources, the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, when four armed men stormed the residence of Mohammed Abubakar, intending to abduct him.

However, the victim resisted the attack, defending himself with a cutlass and forcing the assailants to flee.

Following a distress call from the victim at about 6:00 a.m., security operatives, including police officers and local vigilantes, launched an operation to track down the suspects.

“The police, in collaboration with local vigilantes, traced the suspects’ footprints to a nearby hideout, leading to the swift arrest of three suspects,” an intelligence source told Zagazola Makama.

The arrested suspects were identified as Salisu Hussain, Buhari Hussaini, and Umar Bello, all residents of Gajali Village in Askira Uba LGA. A locally made pistol was recovered from them, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accomplice.

The Borno State Police Command commended the swift response of security personnel and urged residents to remain vigilant.

“We call on the public to report any suspicious movements to law enforcement agencies, as community cooperation is vital in tackling crime.”
