Africa’s fastest sprinters in history Akani Simbine and Marie Jose Ta Lou-Smith have openly celebrated Letsile Tebogo on his new endorsement with renowned diamond company De Beers Group.
Tebogo announced his landmark ambassadorial deal on his social media platforms with the caption:
“I am deeply honored to share that I am now a global ambassador for @debeersgroup. My success story is connected with my nation’s diamond heritage and I am excited to embark on this new adventure.”
Reacting to the news, Simbine commented under the post – “💎 this is what I’m talking about!!!!! 🙌👏”, while Ta Lou-Smith shared on her Instagram story using the caption – “Proud”.
The speedster joins star actress Lupita Nyongo as the company’s only global ambassadors from the continent.
Tebogo had a breakout 2024 season that saw him become Botswana and Africa’s Olympic gold medallist in Paris, after blazing to the 200m title in a new African Record of 19.46s.
For his accomplishments, he was named the World Athletics Male Athlete of the Year and is now highly ranked as one of the world’s best sprinters. He’ll be gunning to have the same measure of success this season at the World Championships in Tokyo this summer.
