Raheem Sterling has acknowledged that his loan spell at Arsenal hasn’t unfolded as he had hoped, but the forward is now focused on making a significant impact in the final stages of the season. The 30-year-old, who has struggled for game time under Mikel Arteta, made a rare start in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against PSV Eindhoven, contributing two assists as the Gunners secured a 9-3 aggregate victory to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Sterling set up Oleksandr Zinchenko’s opener with a clever pass before delivering a pinpoint cross for Declan Rice to head home. It was a much-needed performance for the Englishman, who has started just four Premier League games this season despite injuries to Arsenal’s forward line.

Reflecting on his display, Sterling expressed his desire to prove himself. “It was nice to be out there and contribute to the team. I know what I’m capable of. You just want to be playing, and I’m still faithful that I have a big part to play here,” he told TNT Sports.

The winger admitted he’s been frustrated by his lack of minutes but remains focused on working hard in training to earn Arteta’s trust. “With a leader like Mikel, I don’t want to physically knock on his door. All I can do is perform on the pitch and push for more opportunities,” Sterling added.

Despite being ineligible to face his parent club Chelsea in Arsenal’s next Premier League clash, Sterling is confident the team can maintain their momentum as they chase down Liverpool’s 15-point lead at the top of the table.

“From minute one, I sensed a top-club mentality here. The boys have done really well, and I believe we can give it a right push in the final stretch of the season,” Sterling said.

With key Champions League clashes against Real Madrid approaching and Arsenal still in the Premier League title race, Sterling hopes his standout performance against PSV will be the catalyst for more opportunities under Arteta.
