President Donald Trump has showered praises on Senate Minority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer after he said he would vote to keep the government open.

Trump congratulated Schumer for doing the right thing, saying it took guts and courage.

DAILY POST reports that Schumer had warned that a shutdown would have worse consequences for Americans and would only empower Trump and Elon Musk further.

“I believe allowing Donald Trump to take even much more power via a government shutdown is a far worse option.

“I believe it is my job to make the best choice for the country to minimize the harms to the American people. Therefore, I will vote to keep the government open and not shut it down,” Schumer said while speaking on the Senate floor on Thursday.

Reacting to the development, Trump, who was full of praise for Schumer, said it was a really good and smart move.

In a post on his Truth Social handle on Friday, the President said this could lead to something big for the USA, marking a whole new direction and beginning.

He said: “Congratulations to Chuck Schumer for doing the right thing—took ‘guts’ and courage! The big Tax Cuts, L.A. fire fix, Debt Ceiling Bill, and so much more are coming.

“We should all work together on that very dangerous situation. A failure to pass would be a disaster for the country; approval will lead us to new heights.

“Again, a really good and smart move by Senator Schumer. This could lead to something big for the USA, marking a whole new direction and beginning! DJT”
