Jamie Redknapp has blasted three Chelsea players following their dramatic 2-1 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.
Despite taking the lead through Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea collapsed late in the game, with Marco Asensio’s 89th-minute goal sealing Villa’s comeback.
Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen came under heavy fire after his crucial mistake allowed Asensio’s shot to squirm past him.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp didn’t hold back in his criticism. “It’s awful goalkeeping,” he said. “Jorgensen had so much time to see it, and he still let it through. It’s a nightmare for him, especially since he’s been waiting for his chance with Robert Sanchez struggling for form.”
The former Liverpool star also called out Chelsea’s center-backs Levi Colwill and Tosin Adarabioyo for their poor defensive display, particularly in the second half.
Tosin was forced into action early after an injury to Trevoh Chalobah, but Redknapp felt both defenders lacked grit.
“That bit of inexperience, that naivety in defending it’s a real issue,” Redknapp added. “Colwill and Tosin need to put their bodies on the line. Defending isn’t just about being good on the ball; you have to be willing to fight. Right now, I don’t see that with them.”
Chelsea’s defensive woes continue to pile pressure on manager Enzo Maresca, as they struggle to find consistency in their season.
