The planned release of 602 Palestinian prisoners following Saturday’s hostage return has been delayed, according to multiple reports.

Arab media outlets report that Israel has informed Palestinian officials in the West Bank that the release will be postponed until 8:00 pm this evening.

An unnamed Israeli source, cited by several Hebrew media outlets, said, “Regarding the delay in the release of the terrorists — following the conclusion of [the prime minister’s] security consultation [tonight], a decision will be made regarding the next steps, and the completion of the return of hostages’ remains at this stage.”

The delay comes amid ongoing discussions within Israel’s leadership about the prisoner release process and the status of hostage remains.

Earlier, images from the West Bank city of Ramallah showed a released Palestinian security prisoner flashing a victory sign as he left a bus, reflecting the tense atmosphere surrounding the latest developments.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross collected a body from Hamas in the Gaza Strip yesterday, supposedly meant to be the body of Shiri Bibas, two officials—including a senior Arab diplomat—told The Times of Israel on Saturday.

The remains, once received, will be taken to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for formal identification.

Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardwai told the Hamas-run Al-Aqsa television network that the group had handed over the body of Shiri Bibas.

Recall that on Thursday, Hamas claimed it would return Bibas’s body along with the remains of her two young sons, Ariel and Kfir.

However, the body initially presented as Shiri Bibas’s was later identified as that of a Gazan woman.

Israeli authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the body collected by the Red Cross.
