Man Utd’s striker search

United’s need for a striker has been highlighted by their struggles in front of goal this season.

They have only scored 28 goals in the Premier League, which is the joint fifth-worst record in the division, underscoring the paltry returns of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

According to Sky Sports, Amorim is keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of previous managers, who have often signed forwards who have failed to live up to expectations. The Portuguese manager is determined to bring in a proven goalscorer who can make an immediate impact at Old Trafford.

United have been linked with a number of strikers in recent months, including Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen, while the club still rue missing out on Harry Kane and not making a concerted effort to sign Erling Haaland before the Norwegian moved to Manchester City.

It remains to be seen who they will sign, but it is clear that Amorim is determined to add a world-class forward to his squad.

United’s summer transfer plans will also be influenced by the futures of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho. Both players have been linked with permanent moves away from the club, and their possible departures would mean the club have to sign replacements.

What next for Manchester United?

Man Utd are back in Premier League action against Tottenham Hotspur on February 16, nine days after hosting Leicester City in the FA Cup fourth round.
