Man Utd’s Dorgu pursuit hits a snag

According to the Athletic, negotiations between the two clubs have hit a snag over the player’s valuation, with Lecce reportedly demanding €40m for the 20-year-old, while United are only willing to offer €30m.

Despite the impasse, United remain hopeful of completing a deal per the report, and director of negotiations Matt Hargreaves has travelled to Italy to hold talks with Lecce’s sporting director.

The Red Devils are keen to add reinforcements to their squad before the transfer deadline on February 3, and Dorgu’s versatility and ability to play on either flank make him an attractive option for manager Ruben Amorim.

According to the report, United’s pursuit of the young wide defender is further complicated by Profitability and sustainability (PSR) concerns.

However, the club’s finances should be boosted by the imminent departure of Antony to Real Betis and Alejandro Garnacho’s possible sale to Napoli to free up funds to help secure Dorgu’s signature.

What next for Man Utd?

Amorim’s Red Devils face Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday.
