Ruben Amorim is facing criticism for allowing a “brutal talent” to leave Manchester United during the January transfer window.

In their recent victory over Getafe, Antony delivered a stunning assist for teammate Isco before being sent off for a late challenge. The red card means he will miss the upcoming clash with Real Madrid.
Isco praised Antony’s talent despite the dismissal, telling RTV Betis, “It’s very easy to play with him. He’s got a brutal talent. Hopefully, we can appeal his expulsion.”
Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini has also been impressed with Antony’s performances but stressed the importance of learning from his mistakes.
“It’s a pity we won’t have him against Real Madrid. He’s brought a lot to the team, and this should be a learning experience for him,” Pellegrini said.
The former Manchester City boss credited Antony’s revival to his mindset, stating, “His attitude and self-criticism have been key. If United paid that much for him, it’s because he’s a player of great quality. I’ve spoken with him about staying calm and keeping things simple.”
Manchester United made just two signings in January—Danish full-back Patrick Dorgu and teenage defender Ayden Heaven—while Amorim’s side continues to struggle. They salvaged a 2-2 draw against Everton at the weekend, avoiding yet another defeat.
