Oyo State Governor participated at the Houston Half Marathon on Sunday.
Makinde who finished the race in a decent time of 2 hours, 53 minutes celebrated his achievement on social media.
He noted the challenging conditions, with freezing temperatures of 1 degree Celsius, but highlighted his improved time compared to the Berkeley Half Marathon he ran approximately two years prior.

The Governor also mentioned participating in a 5k fun run the previous day, which he completed in 38 minutes. A 5k fun run is a long distance road race that spans over a five kilometres (3.1 miles) distance.
“Glad to have completed the Houston Half Marathon in 2 hours 53 minutes today. Though conditions were tough with freezing temperatures at 1 degree Celsius, I finished faster than the Berkeley Half Marathon which I ran about 2 years ago. I also took part in a 5k fun run yesterday which I completed in 38 minutes,” Governor Makinde posted.
The Houston Half Marathon was won by Addisu Gobena and Senayet Getachew from Ethiopia in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
