Richard Masters, the Premier League’s chief executive, has provided an update regarding the 130 Financial Fair Play charges against Manchester City.

Last February, City was charged with 115 breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. Due to an administration issue, the number of charges increased to 130 later that year. 

The current Premier League champions strongly denied these charges during a hearing held between September and December. 

The case was taken to court and a decision was reached, with a final decision on the matter expected to be announced.

Richard Masters speaks on Man City charges

On Thursday, Prem Chief Masters briefly updated the status of the panel, suggesting that it needs more time.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live, as reported by the Sun, “The disciplinary panel needs to be given time to come to their decision. A points deduction would be the most likely outcome should the club be found guilty. 

“As for the quantum of points deduction, if Everton were initially given a 10-point deduction for going around about £10/12 million over the limits in one particular season, I think, in order to set an example to the rest of football, it’s got to act as a deterrent.

“We’ll probably be looking at somewhere in the region of 60 to 100 points, which would effectively guarantee relegation out of the Premier League and into the lower tiers of football in the EFL.”
