Notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has been spotted in eastern Sokoto, where he has allegedly imposed a hefty levy on villages, according to a state lawmaker.
Aminu Boza, a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, raised the alarm while addressing journalists on Tuesday, calling for urgent action to curb Turji’s activities.
“Bello Turji is currently in the Isa and Sabon Birni axis of Sokoto. He has even imposed a ₦25 million levy per village in some communities,” Boza claimed in a post by a security analyst, Zagazola Makama on his official X handle on Thursday.
The lawmaker expressed concerns over the activities of Turji and his gang, urging security agencies and local authorities to intensify operations against bandits.
