The Senator representing Southern Kaduna, Sunday Marshall Katung has expressed worry over the lack of science teachers in his constituency.

Senator Katung, who made the remarks at an interactive session with newsmen in Kaduna, lamented that there were several science schools in the country with laboratories but no science teachers.

He observed that some zonal education offices in his constituency had only two mathematics teachers and were in high demand for physics, chemistry and biology teachers.

The Senator advised political office holders to operate beyond political party affiliations to achieve profound results.

He expressed gratitude to the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for the express approval for the establishment of Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna State.

On the issue of insecurity in Southern Kaduna, he identified kidnapping for ransom, particularly in Kauru Local Government Area and assured that concerted efforts were being made by relevant security agencies to curb the menace.

The Senator said that what pained him most about the kidnappings was the prominent role played by either relations or other people close to those kidnapped in facilitating the crime and advised them to desist from the unwholesome behavior.

He denied ongoing narrative that the attacks in Southern Kaduna were as a result of farmers/herders clashes, explaining that the security challenge bedeviling the area was purely banditry meted out on his people.
