Former Super Eagles midfielder Sunday Mba believes Chelsea would be the ideal destination for Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman. The Nigerian international, who was close to joining Paris Saint-Germain last summer, is widely expected to leave Italy for a top European club at the end of the season.

At 27, Lookman has attracted interest from several Premier League sides, including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. However, Mba insists Stamford Bridge would be the perfect fit for his playing style.

Mba: Lookman Suits Chelsea’s System

Speaking to Africafoot, Mba emphasized how Lookman’s skill set aligns with Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s philosophy.

“If I was a sporting director or manager at Chelsea, I would push for Lookman. I think it would be a win-win situation for both parties, given the nature of the player,” Mba said.

“Lookman should be Chelsea’s next signing because the style of play suits what Maresca looks for in his strikers. He’s fast, technically gifted, can dribble, create chances, and score goals. With all due respect, most Chelsea strikers struggle to bring out even two of those qualities.”

Chelsea’s Struggles in Attack

Chelsea’s attacking woes have been a major concern, with inconsistency plaguing their frontline. The club has experimented with multiple forwards but has lacked a consistent goal threat.

Lookman’s ability to play across the front line, combined with his creativity and finishing, could provide a much-needed spark for the Blues.

While a transfer is still speculation, Mba’s endorsement highlights the growing belief that Lookman is ready for a bigger stage. Whether Chelsea will act on this remains to be seen, but interest in the Atalanta star is only growing.
