Almost every decade, the track and field is graced with the greatness of having siblings take the world by storm. From the Borlee family to the Dibaba sisters, athletics lovers can now enjoy the birth of a new set – Charlton Sisters.
The Bahamian track and field queens (Devynne and Anthaya Charlton) boast of being national record holders in their respective events, with the older sibling recognized as one of the best sprint hurdlers in history.

Devynne Charlton is the older sibling and has had career longevity since 2010 when she made her international debut as a youth at the CARIFTA Games.
She has gone on to become a two-time Olympian (Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024), with the hallmark of her career coming at the 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, where she blazed to a new 60mH world record of 7.65s to claim her first global title.

The 29-year-old boasts of a Personal Best (PB) of 12.44s in the 100mH, which makes her one of the fastest women in history in the event.

Olympic champion Julien Alfred won her first race of the year in a record-breaking time at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, Anthaya Charlton is rising swiftly through the ranks as an elite long jumper following her recent accomplishment in the US collegiate circuit.

At the Razorback Invitational on January 31st, the University of Florida standout athlete soared to a massive distance of 6.98m to win the women’s long jump event.
The mark didn’t just smash her PB and School Record but obliterated the Bahamian indoor national record. Most significantly, became the second-best jump in collegiate history behind Jasmine Moore’s distance of 7.03m.
Anthaya Charlton’s 6.98m also displaced Malaika Mihambo’s 6.79m as the world leader, making the Bahamian the current best jumper in the world.
Following her baby sister’s feat, Devynne celebrated via screenshots on her Instagram stories: “Y’all sister could never!! World #1, national record, #2 all-time collegiate LFG.”
