‘The red card was funny’ – Two-capped Super Eagles star slams referee after sending him off

‘You will leave with your foreign VAR’ - Osimhen’s Galatasaray blast Turkish authorities after sending off Super Eagles star

Super Eagles star Ibrahim Olawoyin has criticised the refereeing after being controversially sent off during Rizespor’s defeat by Fenerbahçe.

Rizespor suffered a 3-2 loss to Fenerbahçe on Sunday following a comeback victory from Jose Mourinho’s men.

Before Jose Mourinho’s team gained the upper hand due to a contentious penalty ruling against Olawoyin, Rizespor had built a commanding 2-0 lead.

However, the fate of the match was determined by Olawoyin’s sending-off in the first half by the referee.

The player said, “The red card was a very funny card. I fell on the first card, but it was not a deceptive move. The second yellow card was not a penalty. You give a penalty and a red card, so why don’t you look at [Sofyan] Amrabat’s move then?.”

Ibrahim Olawoyin of Caykur Rizespor was given a red card by referee Burak Pakkan during the game against Fenerbahce.

The first card came after the Nigerian was found to have committed a foul inside the box, with Edin Džeko converting the penalty

To exacerbate the situation, Olawoyin received a second yellow card, bringing İlhan Palut’s team down to ten players.

Fenerbahçe finished the comeback with that advantage, as Youssef En-Nesyri clinched the victory after Džeko equalised in the 79th minute.
