Sosah desperately wanted to represent Ghana but has chosen to dump them after a disheartening experience with the GFA.

Niger international striker Daniel Sosah, who was born in Ghana, has made serious allegations against the Ghana Football Association (GFA), claiming that he was asked to pay a bribe before he’s considered for the national U23 team in 2020.

In an interview with Accra-based Original FM, Sosah stated that after scoring approximately 40 goals in Guinea, he turned down offers from Guinea opting to represent Ghana instead.

What Daniel Sosah said

“I had scored around 40 goals in Guinea at the time and had offers to represent Guinea, but I turned them down because I truly wanted to represent my country,” Sosah explained.

He continued, “My agents contacted the Ghana FA, and after speaking with someone in Twi, they asked for money before allowing me to play for the U23 side.”

Following this disheartening experience, Sosah chose to represent Niger instead. He has become a key player for the Menas, even playing a major role in their 2-1 victory over Ghana’s Black Stars in a 2025 AFCON qualifier held in Accra.

Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo helped Bournemouth earn a share of the spoils against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Sosah’s allegations follow similar claims of misconduct within the GFA. Najeeb Yakubu, another Niger player with Ghanaian heritage, previously alleged that he was dropped from the Black Stars squad for refusing to join Dreams FC, a club owned by GFA President Kurt Okraku.
