Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has named the one player Manchester United must keep in order to win trophies.
Watford legend Troy Deeney has praised Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, highlighting the midfielder’s significant improvement since the arrival of manager Ruben Amorim.
Fernandes’ impressive form was on display in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal, where he scored a stunning free-kick goal.
Deeney, selecting his Team of the Week on BBC, commended Fernandes for his newfound character and emphasized the importance of building the team around him.

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has thrown his weight behind coach Ruben Amorim while revealing why it was a mistake not to sack Erik ten Hag much earlier.
“I have been critical of Fernandes over the years because he is the type of person that got away with it when the team was poor under Erik ten Hag.”
However, Deeney notes that Fernandes has raised his game under Amorim.
“Since the new manager has come in, he has shown a completely new level of character. If Manchester United want to get to where they aspire to be, then they need this guy. They cannot get rid of him.”

Under Amorim, Fernandes has been instrumental in Manchester United’s improved performances, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 25 games.
