Brentford are close to completing the signing of Italian-born Nigerian defender Michael Kayode.
This season, the Super Eagles-eligible player has had few opportunities to play for the first squad, taking a backseat to the seasoned Brazilian right-back Dodô.
Compared to last season, when he made 31 starts and contributed five goals in all competitions, he has only started six of the twenty-nine games that he might have started.
Following his limited playing time, he has attracted interest from top clubs across Europe, including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Fiorentina have rejected a massive bid from Aston Villa for highly rated Nigeria-eligible defender Michael Kayode.
Kayode has been a revelation for Fiorentina since joining the first team as a regular this season

Brentford set to sign Kayode
According to Sky Sports UK, Kayode is expected to have a medical at Brentford on Wednesday afternoon before an unveiling.
The 20-year-old, who has already agreed to personal terms with the Bees, will be able to go to London for a standard physical after Fiorentina and Brentford secured a club-to-club agreement for his transfer.
With the option to buy him outright for £13.5 million in the summer, Kayode will join Brentford on loan for the rest of the 2024–2025 season if he passes his physical with flying colours.
The Super Eagles eligible will be looking to get his career back on track in England and hope to have a good end to the season.
