Victor Osimhen has urged his Super Eagles teammates to show full commitment and fight hard to secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Nigeria currently sits winless in Group C with only three points from four games, putting their qualification hopes in danger. The team will face Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali next Friday before hosting Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on March 25.
Osimhen emphasized that winning matches requires more than just good coaching; players must take responsibility and give their all on the pitch.
“It takes more than a coach to win football matches. Players must also be at their best, show commitment, and bear in mind that we can all fly together to reach our goal,” the Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen told BBC Sports Africa.
The upcoming fixtures will also be the first time most players meet new head coach Eric Chelle. Osimhen revealed that he has already spoken with the Malian tactician and understands his vision.
“I’ve spoken to him a couple of times and clearly understand the objectives he has set for himself and for the players,” Osimhen added.
With Nigeria’s World Cup hopes hanging by a thread, Osimhen’s rallying call could be the spark the team needs to get back on track.
