Arsenal icon Theo Walcott has named the five best young players in the English Premier League.
Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott is thrilled to see the next generation of youngsters making waves in the Premier League.
Two players who have caught his eye are Arsenal’s Nigeria-eligible Ethan Nwaneri and teammate Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Walcott believes these youngsters are among the top five best young players in the league.
Mikel Arteta reveals why Ethan Nwaneri cannot access the Gunners’ dressing room.
“Ethan Nwaneri for me has started off his career very handsomely,” he told BBC Sport.
“Myles Lewis-Skelly has come into his own, they’re players who are here to stay at Arsenal and it’s great to see young talent coming through.”
The duo’s impressive performances, including scoring in the 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City, have Walcott drawing parallels with Arsenal’s golden era under Arsene Wenger.
“It’s very similar to the Arsene Wenger era when he used to bring young talent, so Mikel Arteta is doing something right and the academy too.”
Walcott’s praise doesn’t stop at Arsenal, though. He’s also impressed by Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Ipswich’s Liam Delap, and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
“Carlos Baleba at Brighton… Liam Delap, who is a bit similar to an old-school No. 9 like Harry Kane. He always is a threat in behind and causes defenders all sorts of problems.”
