In a recent appearance on Mikel Obi’s Obi One Podcast, Osimhen shared details of his conversation with Chelle during the coach’s visit to Europe to meet with several Super Eagles players.

Napoli legend Bruno Giordano has praised Antonio Conte for steadying the ship at Napoli and fighting for the title without Victor Osimhen.
According to Osimhen, Chelle emphasised the need for high intensity and commitment from the players.
“I am trying to give most of my national teammates who will listen to this podcast a snippet of what they could get from the coach,” Osimhen explained.

He revealed that Chelle told him, “Victor, you and others I have called, I need you to come, hand in hand with me to work to achieve amazing things for Nigeria, and I think you guys have the quality to do it.”
However, Chelle also made it clear that only those who are willing to put in the effort will get playing time.
Eric Chelle was players to run.
“But the one who doesn’t fight for every ball, doesn’t run will not play,” Osimhen quoted Chelle as saying.
This message shows Chelle’s demanding approach, where he expects nothing but maximum dedication from his players.

Chelle also highlighted the distinction between his personal relationship with the players and the professional expectations on the pitch.
“He said he could be a brother, uncle, or father to the players, but on the pitch, ‘it is business,'” Osimhen noted.
Eric Chelle wants Osimhen and other top stars to lead by example.
This approach reflects Chelle’s ambition to restore the Super Eagles to their former glory, following Nigeria’s absence from the 2022 World Cup.
With Nigeria preparing for the crucial 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Chelle’s emphasis on hard work and discipline is seen as decisive in turning around the team’s fortunes.
