Tech billionaire Elon Musk has claimed that the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, is “despised” by his people.
Musk, who leads President Donald Trump’s newly created Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, said that Trump “is right to ignore him” (Zelensky) in the ongoing negotiation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a post on his X handle on Thursday, Musk alleged that a poll indicating that Zelensky has a high approval rating in Ukraine is not credible.
“If Zelensky was actually loved by the people of Ukraine, he would hold an election. He knows he would lose in a landslide, despite having seized control of ALL Ukrainian media, so he canceled the election,” Musk said.
DAILY POST reported that Trump had on Wednesday described Ukraine’s President Zelensky as a dictator.
Trump also claimed that Zelensky refused to organize elections, saying he is very low in Ukrainian polls.
Zelensky, on his part, had earlier lashed out at Trump for sidelining him in negotiations with Russia.
Zelensky in retaliation stated that Trump lives in a “disinformation space” regarding peace talks with Russia.
