Zimbabwe releases strong squad to face Eric Chelle's Super Eagles

Zimbabwe released a strong team as their World Cup hopes received a boost as knowledge Musona returns to Warriors squad.

Zimbabwe’s bid to qualify for their first-ever FIFA World Cup has received a big boost with the return of veteran forward Knowledge Musona to the Warriors squad.

Musona, who had announced his retirement from international football in 2022, has been recalled by head coach Michael Nees ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.

Musona’s experience and leadership will be invaluable to a squad looking to make history.

The 32-year-old, now playing for Al-Okhdood in Saudi Arabia, is expected to provide a vital spark to the team’s attack.

The Warriors squad boasts a mix of seasoned internationals and emerging talents.

In defence, Jordan Zemura (Udinese) and Divine Lunga (Mamelodi Sundowns) will provide stability, while Marshall Munetsi (Reims) and Marvelous Nakamba (Luton Town) will dictate the tempo in midfield.

Up front, Prince Dube (Young Africans) and Tawanda Maswanhise (Motherwell) will look to provide the firepower, with Tawanda Chirewa (Huddersfield Town) an exciting young talent who could surprise.

Zimbabwe’s World Cup qualification hopes are hanging by a thread, and a positive result against Benin on March 20 in Durban is crucial.

The Warriors will then face a daunting task against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Uyo on March 25.
